Sunday School

of the Holy Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Los Angeles

The parish Sunday School meets on Sundays throughout the academic year, from September to June, and is intended for children aged 4 to 16. Classes are held from 12:00 PM to 3:40 PM. The primary language of communication is Russian. In the lower grades (the "Helpers" and "Apprentices" groups), instruction is conducted in English.

The School seeks to create a creative and dynamic environment that fosters love and respect for the spiritual heritage of Orthodoxy, the Russian language, and Russian traditions abroad.

Age Groups

According to age, children are divided into four groups. This helps each child feel like an active participant in the educational process and allows instruction to be adapted to each student's interests and level of proficiency in the Russian language (both spoken and written):

✦"Apprentices" group (ages 7–9)

✦"Masters" group (ages 10–14)

✦"Craftsmen" group (ages 15 and older)

The monthly tuition fee for Sunday School is as follows:

1 student — $150

2 students (from the same family) — $250

3 students (from the same family) — $350

4 students (from the same family) — $450

Tuition covers instructional materials and supports the parish's educational ministry.
