Dear brothers and sisters,

Once again I want to greet you on the occasion of the recent feast days of our Lord’s Transfiguration and the Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos. I hope that the Dormition fast was successful for all of us and full of numerous spiritual deeds and spiritual joy.

Time flies away, and now we are on the threshold of a new church year. As well as August, September is full of many church holidays, which you know in our parish, with the blessing of our ruling bishop, are served on both the Gregorian and Julian calendars. All this is done in order to provide an opportunity for all our parishioners to pray and spiritually celebrate the important holidays of the church calendar. You are welcome to come to our church and participate in Divine Services. Please check our schedule at the end of the Parish Leaflet and on our website

Also I want to draw your attention to the fact that for three years every Tuesday we have been serving Akathist before the icon of Our Most Holy Lady Theotokos "Rescuer of the Perishing." The Akathist is served in two languages at 7 pm.

Many parishioners recently asked me why on some of our icons, chains with rings and crosses appeared. These rings and crosses were brought as a gift by worshipers to the Most Holy Theotokos in gratitude for her help in response to their prayers. Also, such offerings are made in the hope of help and protection of the Most Holy Theotokos and other saints. This is an ancient Orthodox tradition, which is observed not only in our church, but throughout the Orthodox world.

On September 8th, a new academic year will begin in our Russian Parish Saturday School.  The two previous Saturdays, September 1st and August 25th, the school will be open for registration.  Our school is one of the best, if not the best Russian school in Los Angeles, and therefore we recommend and ask all of you to share this information with your relatives and friends who have children who want to learn the Russian language, literature, history - and of course - the Law of God. During Saturday School registration, we will simultaneously conduct registration for our free Sunday School, recruit for the Children's Church Choir, Altar Boys and the Little Sisterhood.

After my trip to Ukraine, our church shop was replenished with a new and interesting inventory: a lot of icons, crosses, spiritual books in Russian, etc. You are welcome to visit our church store LOGOS (

I hope to see you all during our Divine Services. Thank you all for your prayers for my health.

   God bless you all.
